About Me Title

I grew up riding my horse through hills and orchards, imagining all sorts of stories along the way – I’m chased by bad guys, exploring the frontier, maybe making world-changing discoveries. Maybe I’m racing in the Kentucky Derby!

When I was forced to grow up, I became a teacher, but my favorite part of the day was reading to the kids after lunch. Then I spent 20 years as the library Storylady, and there’s no better job than sharing great stories with great children!

Some days, I’m pretty sure I haven’t grown up after all.

Mmmm, chocolate pudding. Still my favorite food!

This is Polly, my first horse (pony, actually). She had a blaze that looked exactly like an ice cream cone. Yes, I always rode bareback unless I had to put on a saddle. But I didn’t normally ride barefooted. I remember this day – I felt uncomfortable barefoot because I knew it wasn’t smart.

When I got bigger, I rode Missy. They wouldn’t let me barrel race bareback, so I stuck a saddle on her. But normally I barrel raced, jumped, and galloped everywhere with no saddle.

I started playing piano when I was 7 or 8. I took lessons until I graduated from high school, then played keyboards in my husband’s band for a few years. Now I teach piano to a bunch of fantastic kids!

I was the Library Storylady for 20 years. Baby Time, Toddler Time, and Preschool Storytime. It was the best job in the world!
